Westwood Theatre Lands - New Court House Announced

The Ontario HST

On December 10, 2009, The Government of Ontario passed legislation to harmonize the PST with the GST beginning July 1, 2010.

Federal enabling legislation also passed in the House of Commons the same day.

The harmonized  tax will impose an 8% tax on service and utility contracts which are exempt under the current PST. These comprise a large part of the common element fees paid by condominium owners.

 The impact on Essex owners is a permanent increase of at least 6% in annual fees.
